It was supposed to be a 6 hour train ride, between Oslo and Bergen, but it turned into a 13 hour ordeal, due to all kinds of problems on the tracks. A train before ours had pulled down the power lines in a tunnel. After 4 hours waiting at a little station half way, we all transferred to the next scheduled train to Bergen and that one got through the powerless tunnel by switching the electric locomotive for a diesel powered one. Of course that all caused more delays, so we arrived 7 hours later than planned. Not great, but the train was warm, stocked with food and coffee and I was happy that we actually made it, not having to spend the night in the cold and snow in the middle of nowhere. Overall it was a great train ride, with stunning views - see the shot above, taken from the train on the second half of the trip - and no regrets.
Across the station where we had to wait for the next train to Bergen...
Passengers hanging outside, waiting for the next train... there was a warmer inside, but a bit overcrowded...
